Giant Clam

The Giant clam, Tridacna Gigas, is the largest bivalve mollusk. It can weigh more than 200 kilograms (441 lb) and the shells of Giant Clam can measure up to 4 ft across. The Giant clam also has a lifespan of over 100 years.

Trans-Canada Highway

To qualify as Trans-Canada Highway, the paved road must be at least 6.7 m wide with unpaved shoulders of at least another 3.3 m on either side. Hills cannot exceed six degrees of slope angle, and drivers must always be able to see at least 183 m down the road ahead. It took until 1971 for the full length of the road to be completed to this standard.

Sand Castle

The world’s tallest sandcastle measured 49.55 feet high and was completed on July 4, 2007 in Myrtle Beach, S.C. and sponsored by Best Western of the Carolinas.
